Paintings of Civil War scenes and its history were told by artist Nita McFarlin at a meeting of the Sharpsburg Sharpshooters, Sons of Confederate Veterans.

A self-taught artist, McFarlin has been painting scenes of the genre for about six years.

"In Louisiana, I visited the last home of Confederate president, Jefferson Davis, Beauvoir, and saw many paintings of the period," said McFarlin. "I thought I could do as well, and studied local Civil War history. Each of my paintings has a real story to tell."

The camp meets the second Monday of each month at the Sharpsburg Baptist Church. For information call 770-251-3743.
