Commission chairman endorses Perdue for Governor Fulton County Commission Chairman and former Atlanta Falcons football star Mike Kenn this week endorsed the gubernatorial campaign of Republican Sonny Perdue and joined Perdue's statewide leadership team. "Sonny is the right man to serve as Georgia's first Republican Governor and the only candidate who can and will beat Roy Barnes in November," Kenn said. "I am going to work tirelessly to get his message out and show in the primary and in the general elections that Fulton County is Perdue country. Sonny's candidacy makes this an exciting time for Georgia." Kenn was elected Chairman in 1998. In his first run for public office, Kenn received one of the highest vote totals in the history of Republican candidates in Fulton County. "Having Mike aboard is going to be a huge asset to my campaign - in Fulton County and across the state," Perdue said. "He is a proven vote-getter and tireless campaigner in Fulton as well as someone respected across the state as a leader, businessman and a star athlete whose contributions to football were significant both on and off the field." During his first three years as Chairman, Kenn has used his private sector experience to try and change the way Fulton County does the taxpayer's business. Kenn is a champion of government reform and fiscal responsibility. He has led the fight to make government more efficient, more accessible and more responsive.
