Senoia's moratorium comes to a halt

Developers who want to build in Senoia now have new guidelines for building.

After spending months studying and reworking the city's land development and zoning ordinances, the City Council gave final approval to the changes Monday night and ended a development moratorium.

A zoning category eliminated is the R-20 zoning district, which would allow half-acre lots. Additionally, city planner Bill Johnston added a conceptual site plan to the city's land development ordinance.

"This allows major developments to come before the city early on," he said.

The new ordinances also feature a punchlist, so that both city leaders and developers could see the timelines for when specific items needed to be submitted.

Mayor Dianne Cleveland thanked City Administrator Murray McAfee and the Planning Commission for such diligent work on the ordinances and said the changes would create better developments for the city.
