The Great Georgia Air Show has signed a new agreement with Delta Air Lines and Delta Connection/Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) naming them the official airline sponsors of the show through 2004.

In cooperation with the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce at its After Hours, the announcement was made Thursday at Peachtree City's Falcon Field.

Chamber chairman Mike Hofrichter opened the event by flying in and landing in a PT 26 Warbird to welcome everyone and to introduce other speakers Fayette County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn, who expressed his gratitude for the support of the sponsors of the Air Show, both those within and without the county; Greg Hall, Air Show chairman; Jerry Cobb, Air Show director; and Janet Smola, Air Show marketing director.

As a part of the grand finale, a new ASA/Delta Connection regional jet, a CRJ 200, landed and taxied up to the terminal. Twelve names were drawn out of a basket and those 12 got to take a ride on the two-week-old plane, all the way to Eufala, Ala. and back. A 13th name was drawn for a ride on the Warbird.

The Great Georgia Air Show is Sept. 14-15 at Falcon Field. The theme for the show is "The Wings of Remembrance" and will focus on patriotism and national security. Each day of the event begins with a parade featuring firemen, police officers, and high school and military bands.

Advance tickets will be on sale Aug. 1 and can be obtained through Kroger Stores at discounted prices until Sept. 13. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on event days.
