By late Thursday night, Fayette County should have a budget set for next year.

The Fayette County Commission will vote on its $66 million budget at its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday.

This year, the county's general fund budget is $44.5 million, while special revenue funds, including fire and E-911 total $9.6 million. The final component of the budget is the water department, which has a $12.4 million budget.

The budget only increased slightly this year, despite having to hire 57 new deputies to staff the county's expanded jail that is currently under construction.

In other business, the County Commission will:

Consider an application by John and Cathy Kegley, II, to rezone 18.98 acres from R-40 and A-R to R-40 to establish one zoning district for lot 69 of Huntington Creek Subdivision, phase four.

The Kegleys are also requesting to subdivide the property into a total of four single-family dwellings.

Consider an application by K & R Mechanical Contractors, Inc., to rezone 1.646 acres from C-H Conditional to C-H to develop a Convenience Store and Gas Station. This property fronts on Ga. Highway 54 east.

Listen to an application filed by Joan Carlton Busey, owner, and attorney Donald M. Comer, agent, request to rezone 148 acres from A-R to R-40 to develop a single-family residential subdivision consisting of approximately 102 lots. This property fronts on Helmer Road.

Consider an application by THG Properties, LLP, agent to rezone 6.8 acres from A-R and R-40 to C-H to develop a convenience store with a gas station and retail shops. This property fronts on Seay Road and Ga. Highway 92 South.
