Whitewater Middle School teacher accused of molesting student By JOHN
MUNFORD
A Whitewater Middle School social studies teacher has been arrested on charges that he molested one of his female students at a remote area off Bernhard Road just over a month ago. Charles Gregory Farmer, 42, is being held on $150,000 bond. He is charged with child molestation, sexual assault and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Farmer turned himself in to the Fayette County Jail Wednesday morning, according to officials. Authorities were alerted to the allegations by a second party who knew the victim, said Sgt. Belinda McCastle of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. The Fayette County Board of Education is working with its attorney to determine the status of Farmer's employment, school spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said Thursday morning. School officials will continue to cooperate with the law enforcement investigation. The allegations were not brought forth until after school was out for the summer, Berry-Dreisbach said, adding that the incidents did not take place on school grounds. Farmer has been employed with the school board since August 2000, Berry-Dreisbach said. He taught eighth-grade Georgia history this year, she said.
