Adopt-A-Park Program Still Going Strong
Twenty parks or tot lots have been adopted by a total of 28 residents, groups or organizations since the Peachtree City Adopt-A-Park program began in April 2000. Adoptees must agree to pick up litter or debris such as paper, bottles, cans and small branches once a month. Groups are recognized by an Adopt-A-Park sign at the parks with the names of these individuals, organizations and businesses for their hard work and contribution to help keep city parks looking the best that they can all year round. More than one individual, group or organization can adopt a park. Some parks have more than one adoptee and each particular group may choose to do a clean up at the beginning, middle or end of the month providing continual service. The Recreation Department commends the support of these volunteers for continuing effort in keeping this program going strong: Ivy Green Lawn Service, Inc. To support the Adopt-A-Park effort a group or individual can choose from Beaver Dam Park-Wynmeade, Clover Reach Park, Drake Field, Glenloch Recreation Complex-Soccer Fields, Jim Meade Memorial Fields, Picnic Park, South 74 Baseball area or Shakerag Knoll. Due to the abundance of activity in city parks during the upcoming months, volunteers are in demand. Volunteers can make a difference too!
