Fayette County Girl Scouts win the gold
Five Fayette County Girl Scouts have won the Gold Award, and eleven others have won the Silver. The Gold Award for Girl Scouts is equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Award and is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. The Fayette County Girl Scouts winning the Gold Award and their projects are: Jennifer Bixby of Fayetteville - Project Painting of Mascot. Painted an eagle (school mascot) on a 8' x 8' piece of masonite, attached painting to a wooden frame she built herself, then mounted it on the wall of the gym at St. Paul Lutheran School. Jennifer Pohlman, of Fayetteville - Project Cyber Assistant. Researched Girl Scout Websites and checked the ease of finding various sites, analyzed the overall effectiveness of the sites, discovered that many are not updated on a regular basis, and made suggestions to web masters. Cathy Stikes, Peachtree City Holly Tracy, Fayetteville Destiny Williams, Peachtree City - All worked on Project Fall Fest. Held Fall Fest for girls at Camp Calvin. Open to Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts and church members. Girls played "Great Escape, held a "Lack-of-Talent Show," had a camp fire and worked on interest projects (high adventure and camping). Thirty Girl Scouts and leaders attended. The Fayette County Girl Scouts winning the Silver Award are: Tania Aurora, Fayetteville; Jessi Fawley, Peachtree City; Lauren Fisher, Fayetteville; Melinda George, Fayetteville; Jennifer Messer, Peachtree City; Dorothy Mowery, Peachtree City; Erin Payne, Fayetteville; Savannah Sharp, Peachtree City; Janay Stargell, Fayetteville; Brittany Webster, Fayetteville; and Katrenah Wilson, Peachtree City.
