Playground Opens; Brick Sales Suspended

The All Children's Playground is open for business after bad weather delayed getting the rubber surfacing poured. That has now been completed, and Phases I and II of the three-phase playground are ready for play.

The Playground Committee also announced that sales of memorial bricks will be suspended on July 1. After that date, no more bricks will be sold for an undetermined period of time as organizers proceed in the funding collection to complete Phase III, which will cost $100,000. The first two phases cost $50,000 each.

"We wanted to give people who have been thinking about getting a brick a couple more weeks to do so," said Colleen Sugar, chair of the volunteer playground committee. "We have about 200 orders now, and we want to go ahead and order the bricks so we can get them placed at the playground."

Commemorative bricks cost $35 For one brick, $30 for two to three bricks, and $25 for four or more. Those interested may contact the Recreation Department at 770-631-2542 for further information.
