New code enforcement office opening On Monday, Fulton County District 7 Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a new Code Enforcement satellite office at the Old National Police Precinct, 5549 Old National Highway, College Park. The event kicks off the Fulton County Code Enforcement Division's celebration of Code Enforcement Awareness Week June 17-20. The purpose is to raise awareness of the division's role in enhancing Fulton County residents' quality of life and protecting public health and safety. Code Enforcement supports unincorporated Fulton County residents and businesses who take pride in maintaining their property. In its mission to protect the health, safety, and environment, the Division enforces codes against junk cars, illegal signs, and dilapidated houses. Code Enforcement activities are conducted by officials at several different levels, including: Code Enforcement officers. "Tell Line" (404-730-TELL) Administration Team. Citizen deputies. Citizens volunteers who are given the authority to enforce Fulton County's sign ordinance. Code Enforcement Board members. Environmental Court Team. During 2001, code enforcement activities included: 5,380 "Tell Line" complaints. 24,549 Notices of Violation issued. 30,000 inspections. 4,765 re-inspections. 400 Code Enforcement Board cases, of which 85-90 percent were resolved. 10,549 signs removed.
