Fulton's leaders mull security plan By JOHN
THOMPSON
Representatives of several government agencies gathered in Atlanta last week to discuss Fulton County's homeland security plan. The summit was the idea of Fulton County Commissioner Mike Kenn, who wanted a plan devised to protect the county in case of a catastrophic emergency. Fulton County Commissioners, along with mayors and several county leaders, heard a presentation from Georgia Emergency Management Association director Gary McConnell, and representatives from the federal government. While the protection of the infrastructure program was closed to the media, the assembled leaders wanted to make it clear that a unified plan was in place to protect the critical assets of the county. Fulton County Health director Dr. Adewale Troutman also briefed the government's leaders on bio-threats, such as smallpox and anthrax and said the county, along with the feds, are working on preventative measures.
