Deal pending for new restaurant at Peachtree City tennis center By JOHN
MUNFORD
The signing of a company to lease restaurant space on the second floor of the new building at Peachtree City's tennis center is almost a done deal. At a special called meeting Tuesday night, the authority authorized Chairman Tate Godfrey and Executive Director Virgil Christian to execute the contract with a few changes to the original. The contract will be with the same restaurant group that operates Valentino's restaurant at the Braelinn Village shopping center. The authority discussed the contract in executive (closed) session before approving the contract. The restaurant area was part of the plan for the new building, with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area will show a view over several tennis courts. One of the changes lengthened the contract from six months to 364 days. Another change required that the "gold series sponsorship" to the amphitheater that's part of the contract is contingent upon the restaurant group not defaulting on the contract. Before the vote on the contract was taken, authority member Scott Bradshaw had asked it to be tabled until the authority's next meeting. But his motion to that extent died for lack of a second. Instead, Bradshaw was asked to voice his concerns with Godfrey and Christian before they signed the deal.
