County receives award

The 2000 Edition of the Coweta County Annual Report has been honored with a national award.

The National Association of County Information Officers, an affiliate of the National Association of Counties, deemed the 2000 Annual Report as "Excellent" from all annual report entries in newspaper format from counties "under 500,000 in population".

The award will be officially presented in July during the National Association of Counties meeting in New Orleans.

There were over 550 entries in the 2002 Awards of Excellence competition with entries divided into two groups: counties with a population of 500,000 or more and counties with a population of under 500,000.

"This award goes to everyone working for Coweta County," states Coweta County Information Officer Tom Corker, "the hard work of our employee has been reflected in the pages of every annual report published since 1997. And it was that hard work that resulted in the need to expand the size of the annual report in 2000 from 12 to 16 pages."

"There is so much going on in our county each year and the annual report allows the people we work for to have a chance to sit down and look at the many accomplishments in a factual, concise publication. Thanks must go to all of the department heads who take the time each year to gather the facts and figures used in the annual report.

"We have always strived to make our annual report a quality publication for the citizens of Coweta County. It is indeed gratifying and humbling to have those efforts recognized on a national level."
