Vacation policy approved for tennis center, amphitheater employees By JOHN
MUNFORD
Employees of the Development Authority of Peachtree City now have an official policy to follow for vacation and sick leave. Previously, the authority has used Peachtree City's policy as its own for employees of the city tennis center and amphitheater, both of which are operated by the authority. But as the authority has begun creating its own policies and procedures manual, this is one of the areas the authority decided to address. Now, employees who have been with the authority for 90 days qualify for one week of vacation while employees with up to two years service will get two weeks vacation. Employees with more than two years experience will get three weeks vacation while those with five or more years service will get four weeks vacation. All employees will get a week's worth of sick time that can be used also. Authority Executive Director Virgil Christian told the authority at its Monday meeting that employees who work overtime are not allowed to receive comp time and since the tennis center is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, "it's not a 9-5 job." Some of the salaried employees sometimes work much longer hours than normal, particularly when tennis tournaments are hosted, Christian said. And during concert season, the amphitheater employees typically take off the Monday following each performance, he noted.
