Coweta County District Attorney Pete Skandalakis left the County Commission chambers a happy man Tuesday night.

The district attorney presented his annual budget to the County Commission and left with virtually all his requests intact.

The total budget for the department is more than $900,000, but Coweta's contribution is $300,000. The county is one of five that funds the district attorney's budget, and this year the budget was figured on caseload.

"This is a very austere budget. I have asked for no additional personnel," Skandalakis said.

The county's portion of the multi-county budget is $144,000. It also funds $83,000 for the county district attorney budget and $65,000 for the victim assistance program.

County administrator Theron Gay complimented Skandalakis for his budget planning, and said it was a relatively easy process this year.

The district attorney was also complimentary of the county staff.

"I haven't always got everything I wanted, but I do get everything I need," he said.
