Police cracking down on seatbelt violators

The Fayetteville Police Department is getting the word out about its upcoming drive to emphasize the importance of motorists wearing their seatbelts.

"Click it or Ticket" is an education and enforcement campaign sponsored by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, focusing on unbuckled drivers and unrestrained children. The program is part of a nationwide crackdown during the Memorial Day holiday period involving more than 10,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states.

From May 20 through June 2, Fayetteville police will be conducting road checks and looking for drivers who are in violation of seatbelt and child restraint laws.
