South Fulton receives community grants

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has approved 122 youth-oriented programs to receive $1.85 million in FRESH grants for 2002-2003.

The Board last month to accept recommendations made by Community Advisory Boards representing Commission Districts 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Agencies were selected in a competitive process that included public hearings share $370,000 per district from June 1, 2002 through May 31, 2003.

The funds, which enhance existing non-profit youth activity programs countywide, are for afterschool, cultural, economic development, educational, health, recreational, social development, and violence prevention programs.

FRESH, which stands for Fulton Roundtable Expanded Service Headquarters, is sponsored by the Fulton County Roundtable on Children under the leadership of Commissioner Nancy A. Boxill. The Fulton County Human Services Department, Office of Children and Youth, administers the grants.
