Callaway offers spring cooking series

Discover some different ways to prepare those spring vegetables at Callaway's cooking series, Callaway Presents. Led by Executive Chef Thierry Connault from Normandy, France, Callaway chefs guide participants through a wonderful world of new dishes and flavors.

The spring series features spring vegetables, including spinach (May 4) and garlic (May 18).

The summer series features summer vegetables, like lettuce (June 1), green beans (June 15), tomatoes (July 20) and corn (Aug. 3)

The fall series features wines, with sessions focusing on American wines (Sept. 21), Chilean wines (Oct. 5), Spanish wines (Oct. 19) and French wines (Nov. 23).

A special session on holiday entertaining will be offered Dec. 7.

The cooking series will be in the classrooms of the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center at 11:30 a.m. Each will include a 15-minute discussion on the featured topic with an expert horticulturist sharing planting and growing tips followed by a one-hour cooking demonstration of two recipes. For a grand finale, attendees will enjoy a buffet lunch featuring the dishes and two wine samples from Georgia Crown Distributors, Inc.

In addition, participants will receive copies of the featured recipes and an opportunity to win a gift certificate for two to the Sunday Brunch at Callaway's Plantation Room restaurant.

The cost is $35 per person per class; however, the French wine class Nov. 23 will feature the 2002 Beaujolais Nouveau for $49.95 per person. To register, call 1-800-CALLAWAY (225-5292) ext. 6765 or 706-663-6765 by 5 p.m. on Friday before the class. Registration is limited, so call soon.
