Wednesday, May 8, 2002 High-end homes picking up in Walden Park The pace has picked up in home sales activity in the higher price ranges at Walden Park, the master planned community located in South Fulton County. Rick Rice, managing broker for the Riverdale/Tri-County office of Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty, said there have been nine recent sales of homes built by members of the TownPark Custom Builder Group, who are building the most expensive homes offered in the community. In the Marquee neighborhood, five homes have either sold or are under contract. This includes the former model home for the TownPark Custom Builder Group, which is the highest priced home sold in the community thus far. Four of the upscale ranch homes in the Interlude neighborhood have also been placed under contract. Walden Park, situated on West Stubbs Road between Butner Road and Cascade Palmetto Highway, is a mixed-use development which developer Stephen H. Macauley describes as environmentally-friendly, pedestrian-friendly and children-friendly. The homes in the community range in price from the $170,000s to the $600,000s. Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty, which is marketing the TownPark Custom Builder Group's homes, is represented by Jocelyn Stripling and Andrea Cheney in Marquee and Lorraine Lockett in Interlude. The Custom Builder Group is composed of Homebuilders Construction, Nesbitt Lord & Company, and Covenant Builders International. Other Walden Park builders include Sharon McSwain Homes, Traton Homes, Ryland Homes, and David Weekley Homes, with each of these companies having its own in-house marketing representatives. The development is the first master planned community in South Fulton County and is one of the TownPark planned developments from The Macauley Companies. The land plan for the community includes a wide variety of housing choices, police and fire facilities, the TownMarket area with a retail complex within walking distance of the residential neighborhoods, and the Walden Park Family Club with its extensive recreational facilities. The developer's TownPark plan for Walden Park includes 200 plus acres of land devoted to parks and open space. Included in this environmentally-friendly community is a conservation easement of 160 acres granted to The Nature Conservancy. The amenities area consists of the Walden Park Grand Clubhouse, which has a social room with a fireplace; open-air pavilion; and patios overlooking the swimming pool in the aquatic center. Also in the Family Club area are the Jubilee Amphitheater, a children's play center, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a tennis center, and a village green.
