NGCSU cadets recognized Zachary R. Poole of Peachtree City is commander of the North Georgia College & State University Blue Ridge Rifles precision drill team in Dahlonega. He was recognized by the Dahlonega/Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce April 18 for his outstanding leadership as drill team commander during this academic year. Under his command, the Blue Ridge Rifles once again were named national champions in precision drill, competing against more than 40 collegiate teams nationwide in New Orleans in February. Jeremiah G. Register of Tyrone is the brigade commander of the North Georgia College & State University Corps of Cadets in Dahlonega. He was recognized by the Dahlonega/Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce April 18 for his outstanding leadership. While in command of the Boar's Head Brigade, Register was named the recipient of the Douglas McArthur Leadership Award, one of the top military awards at NGCSU. His sister, Melissa Register, is also a cadet at NGCSU and was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce for being a superior cadet in her freshman military science class during this academic year. North Georgia College & State University is a public, co-educational, liberal arts university, as well as the Military College of Georgia ñ one of only six senior military colleges in the nation. The university, founded in 1873 in Dahlonega, offers bachelorís and masterís degrees in a wide range of academic and professional fields.
