Fayette studies F'ville, Fairburn annexation requests By JOHN THOMPSON
Two annexation requests top this week's agenda of the Fayette County Commission. The first request is from the city of Fairburn to annex nearly 10 acres on Milam Road. County administrator Chris Cofty said this is a different tract than Fairburn requested annexation on last year. He said he expected the County Commission to possibly call a special meeting to fully discuss the issue. The second request is from the city of Fayetteville for a 53-acre site at the intersection of Ga. Highways 92 and 85. Fayetteville officials want to create a planned community development at the site. Other items on the county's consent agenda include: Approval of request from the Engineering Department to accept phases two and three of Vickery Lane as a street light district in Fayette County. Acceptance of a request from Public Works Director Lee Hearn to award bid to low bidder Bruce Albea Contracting, Inc. on the McDonough Road-County Line Road intersection Improvements project in the amount of $495,626; and award Mallett & Associates the construction management, inspection and engineering services for the subject project in the amount of $47,860. Approval of request from water system director Tony Parrott to amend the water system's fiscal year 2001-2002 budget as presented. Approval of budget adjustment as requested by Finance Director Mark Pullium concerning GIS enhancements. Approval of revised contract for County Administrator. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the county administrative complex on Stonewall Avenue at 7 p.m.
