A host of community volunteers pulled together last weekend to install the second phase of equipment at the Luther Holt Memorial All Children's Playground in Peachtree City.

The playground, located at Picnic Park near City Hall, is designed to be accessible to all children, featuring surfaces that can be navigated by children using wheelchairs, walkers or with other physical challenges.

The second phase includes bigger slides and more play panels. It is attached to the first phase but is one foot higher off the ground, said Randy Gaddo, director of leisure services for Peachtree City.

The new area should be open by next week, Gaddo said. It was difficult to keep children off the new equipment during the volunteer build, he added.

The work went so well that the project was ahead of schedule by the end of Sunday, Gaddo said. He wanted to thank

Funds for the playground have been raised through community donations from local businesses and residents.

A third and final phase is planned for the playground. To donate or become a sponsor, contact the Peachtree City Recreation Department at 770-631-2542.

The facility was designed by Hasley Recreation and Design of Greensboro, which has helped the community volunteers install the equipment to cut costs for the project.
