Courts offering online convenience By JOHN
THOMPSON
If you go looking for a deed in Coweta County online, you're going to help put extra money in the county's coffers. Coweta Clerk of Superior Court Cindy Brown explained all the property deeds her office processes are currently available online at www.gsccca.org. For a fee of $9.95 a month, residents can access all the property deeds in the county at the Web site. "Every time somebody looks up a deed, we're credited with it and we get checks coming back to us," said Brown. You can still look up deeds the old-fashioned way at the Coweta County Courthouse, but Brown said the Web site is a perfect solution for time-strapped folks who don't have time to drive to downtown Newnan and sift through the records. She also said her office is very user-friendly for folks who want to look up criminal and civil cases. A visitor can walk into her office, type a search word into the computer, and pull up old court cases. "If the case happened into 2001 or 2002, you can pretty much be sure it's on the computer," she said. Brown is not sure if court cases will ever be available online, but she said technology in the judicial system is constantly changing.
