A truly spiritual week By DR. KNOX HERNDON
Next Thursday, MAY 2, people from throughout Georgia and America will be gathering for the National Day of Prayer. At no time in recent history is prayer more needed than now. Here is the schedule for the Fayette and Coweta County prayer opportunities:
Fayette County Youth Rally at 6:30 a.m. at Fountain. Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Church on Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville. Evening Prayer Gathering at 6:30 p.m. at Fayetteville First Baptist.
Coweta County Prayer breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Newnan Special Events Center. Intercessor's Prayer Meeting 10:-11:30 a.m. hosted by Jones Chapel UMC. Noonday prayer at First Baptist Newnan. Intercessor's Prayer Meeting at 7 p.m. hosted by All Souls Church of God in Christ.
In my most humble and unbiased opinion (my wife says I have no humble and unbiased opines), I believe you can never get enough of God's blessings. As if the National Day of Prayer was not enough joy and blessing for you, there is another wonderful family event Saturday, May 4, in Fayetteville the Celebrate Jesus Parade and Fair. I encourage you to bring your church people, choir, praise team, youth group, van, float, special vehicle, motorcycle, pets and children for this day-long event. If you have a vehicle or float, come to the Fayette County High School parking lot at 9 a.m. to decorate your float or vehicle and line up for the parade. At 10 a.m. the parade will move out toward Hood Avenue and turn right up to Highway 85 and Main Street. The parade will progress to the square and a fun-filled family spiritual event awaits you. There will be food, music, singing, clowns, moon walk, living history individuals in costume, spiritual speakers, and churches sharing their outreach programs for your family. The events will go until late afternoon. This will be the fifth annual event like this and each year it gets bigger and better with more community participation. I trust that God has been good to you and your family. Here is a chance to say thank you in your participation in Thursday's National Day of Prayer and Saturday's Celebrate Jesus Day. Remember there are groups and organizations and governments around the world who are working overtime to shut down events like these. As for me and my family, and our church, we will participate in both events actively, and gladly. The Rev. Dr. Knox Herndon is pastor of His House Community Church (SBC). The Rev. Greg Mausz is senior associate pastor. The Rev. Dr. Lydia Herndon is the Sunday School superintendent, Bible study coordinator and teacher. The church is just below Fayetteville, on Ga. Highway 85, a mile south of Ga. Highway 16, just below the fire station. Visitors welcome. Church office and prayer line 770-719-2365; e-mail KHERN2365@aol.com.
