PTC sewer authority to consider deal to help with Tyrone sewer By JOHN
MUNFORD Peachtree City's Water and Sewerage Authority will consider a contract to perform preventive maintenance on Tyrone's new sewer system at its meeting Tuesday evening.. The proposed contract, already approved by Tyrone, calls for WASA to be paid $600 a month for the service. Mostly, that entails checking Tyrone's two pump stations twice weekly, said WASA General Manager Larry Turner. "It's a hop, skip and a jump from our northernmost station in the Kedron area," Turner said, noting that it won't take a tremendous amount of effort to perform the service for Tyrone. The contract is on the authority's agenda for its meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Tyrone's sewer system does not have a treatment plant; the wastewater will be pumped to Fairburn for treatment although the capacity is limited to 250,000 gallons per day. The system will serve a 292-home subdivision, some commercial parcels and a possible office complex. The move is billed as a cost-cutting move for Tyrone, keeping the town from having to hire a staff to maintain the relatively small sewer system. Tyrone officials initially resisted the idea of having a sewer system but developer John Wieland Homes won a lawsuit allowing the sewer system to be built.
