Fairgrounds has new manager By JOHN
THOMPSON Coweta County has a new fairgrounds park manager. Former Coweta Journal owner and editor Tray Baggarly will be responsible for the 65-acre multiuse site that features the fairground and conference center. The position pays $32,215 year and consists of administrative and managerial work at the facility. Specific duties include: Working closely with government entities in coordinating functions and events. Scheduling all events at the facility. Investigating and resolving complaints from patrons of the facilities. Supervising food service operations. Developing budgets and projections for the facilities. The new facility staged the county fair last year for the first time and has won several design awards. The centerpiece of the new facility is a 14,000 sq. ft. multipurpose building that can be used by members of the community. The building is big enough to accommodate small meetings, and county officials are hoping to lure small shows to the structure's three meeting rooms. In front of the multipurpose building is a small amphitheater that architect Jeff Walker said could be used as a small entry stage for the fairgrounds. The midway sits on nine acres and is accessible through the main ticket gates in the center of the area or through a secondary set of gates. The entire site is filled with picnic areas and has a nature trail so residents will be encouraged to use it year-round, instead of just visiting the site for the fair.
