Clayton State Alumni Annual Meeting and Dinner Scheduled for May 16 Alumni Association Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The Clayton State Alumni Association will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on Thursday, May 16 with its Annual Meeting and Dinner. "Celebrating Our Past... Growing For The Future" will be held in the University's Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education. The evening will begin with a Social Hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. This year's meeting will be highlighted by the first-ever Distinguished Alumni Awards, as outstanding representatives from each of the University's schools will be honored, along with all past members of the Alumni Association's Board of Directors. All graduates of Clayton Junior College (1969-1986), Clayton State College (1986-1996) and Clayton College & State University (1996 to present) are invited to attend. Individual tickets for the event are $25, with tables for eight costing $200. Reservations will be taken until May 13 through the Clayton State Alumni Office, (770) 961-3580. Although Clayton State is best known for serving the residents of Atlanta's "Southern Crescent," the University's alumni are currently spread out over more than 100 of Georgia's 158 counties. Among the top 10 counties represented among the University's 9,000+ alumni database are; Clayton (1924), Henry (1831), Fayette (1029), Fulton (803), Coweta (527), DeKalb (315), Gwinnett (255), Cobb (242), Rockdale (235) and Spalding (168). Other counties with significant numbers of Clayton State alumni include; Newton (143), Douglas (94), Butts (81), Walton (61), Cherokee (56) Pike (54), Paulding (40), Carroll (40), Forsyth (33), Hall (31), Chatham (22), Upson (15), Clarke (15), Barrow (14), Meriwether (13) and Oconee (12) counties. Clayton College & State University, a state university of the University System of Georgia, is located in Morrow, in Atlanta's "Southern Crescent."
