A cut above the rest

For the past few years in Fayette County, one of the biggest trends has been the opening of Mexican restaurants.

For the most part, many of the establishments are the same. If somebody blindfolded me and fed me some of the food, I would be hard pressed to tell which restaurant's food I was sampling.

But La Parilla's different. The eatery is in the Fayette Pavilion shopping center, where Tanner's Rotisserie Chicken originally set up shop.

The owners have done a complete makeover of the interior. Bright colors provide a sense of a summer day in Mexico. A nice exterior eating area provides the perfect respite from work on a nice spring day.

La Parilla also offers an extensive menu of old favorites and some new choices. Their entrees with the pork and grilled steak are simply wonderful.

During many nights of the week, the restaurant features live music, which adds a nice touch to the dining experience.

A nice dinner for two will set you back about $20, which is relatively cheap in these days of $30 entrees.

For a new taste of Mexico, head to the Pavilion for a treat.
