AME church plans youth festival and games April 20

The AME South Atlanta District Young People's Department (YPD) will hold its annual Spring Festival Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Willie Lynch Park in Newnan.

The event will feature a Christian step team competition, a three-on-three basketball tournament, a pastors' basketball free throw competition, and plenty of fun, food and other games.

"The South Atlanta District has been holding this event for more than seven years," said the Rev. Ed Johnson of New Mt. Carmel AME Church in Sharpsburg, "and this year's event promises to be the biggest and best. We do this to reach out to the young people of the South counties of Atlanta in hopes of providing wholesome fun under a Christian banner. We invite all Christian groups and other religious denominations to come out and celebrate spring in a wholesome and safe atmosphere."
