Wednesday, April 10, 2002 Starcraft a big winner Starcraft Communities, LLC, collected two top awards from the 21st annual Professionalism Awards Banquet. The 2001 black-tie awards dinner and program, held recently at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, was presented by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council to recognize the most outstanding professionals in Atlanta's home building industry. The program gives members of its 3,800-member association the opportunity to compete with their industry professionals in building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement areas. This year, 39 industry professionals traveled to Atlanta from across the United States during August to judge the hundreds of entries. Starcraft Communities, which is headquartered in Norcross, received the Gold Award in the "Best Interior Marchandising - Detached Model $100,001 to $149,999" category and the Silver Award for "Best Building Design - Detached Model $100,001 to $149,999." The winning model home is located in Walnut Creek in south DeKalb County. Jim Adair is managing partner of Starcraft Communities. He has been involved in home building in the Atlanta area since 1986, and prior to that he was a senior executive for national volume builders in Texas and California. His business associate in Starcraft Communities is Mike Massa, whose career also began in Texas and who later worked with large home building companies in the Atlanta area. Adair and Massa worked together in the Atlanta home building industry for several years before deciding to start Starcraft Communities. The company is currently building in Walnut Creek in south DeKalb County and Cypress Pointe in south Fulton County, and its homes are being marketed by Glenridge Realty.
