Spring festival planned for April 20 The AME South Atlanta District Young People's Department (YPD) will holds its annual 2002 Spring Festival Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Willie Lynch Park in Newnan. This event will feature a Christian Step Team competition, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a Pastors' Basketball Free throw competition and plenty of fun, food and other games. The South Atlanta District YPD invites all Christian groups and other religious denominations to come out and celebrate spring in a wholesome and safe atmosphere. "The South Atlanta District has been holding this event for more than seven years and this year's event promises to be the biggest and best," said Rev. Edward Johnson, pastor of New Mount Carmel AME Church. "We do this to reach out to the young people of the south counties of Atlanta in hopes of providing wholesome fun under a Christian banner."
