Creekside hosting a night of jazz The Creekside High School Bands will sponsor a fundraising event entitled "An Evening of Jazz" April 27 from 7 p.m.-midnight. The evening features dinner, dancing and entertainment. The event will include PhD Jazz, a jazz band featuring band director Sarkino Walker, Gerald Holland and other talented musicians. Also featured will be LeCount Holmes, jazz vocalist; Sheila Jackson,rhythm and blues; and poetry readings by Shelly the Poet. The host is comedian DJ Slim. The event is at The Warehouze, 5600 Mason Road in College Park. For ticket information, call 404-820-0557. All proceeds benefit the Creekside High School S.O.S. Bands. The Creekside band program has received several awards recently. The concert band received superior ratings at the District V High School Festival Feb. 28, and the marching band has been invited to perform at numerous occasions throughout the city as well as parts of Alabama.
