Redistricting process starts next week The Coweta County School System will hold a public hearing Tuesday on the proposed redistricting map for the new Willis Road Elementary School, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Atkinson Elementary School, preceding the Coweta County Board of Education's meeting at 6:30 p.m. The new elementary school on Willis Road will open Aug. 9. Redistricting for the school will have an effect on the adjacent elementary school districts, including Poplar Road, Eastside, White Oak, Newnan Crossing, Jefferson Parkway and Thomas Crossroads Elementary schools. The superintendent has solicited input regarding the new district lines from a parent's redistricting committee, made up of two representatives from each of the affected schools. The committee met from October through March to discuss the lines. Copies of the proposed redistricting map have been distributed to these six elementary schools, and parent comment forms are also available at each of the six affected schools.
