Fayette Senior Services has provided services to Fayette County citizens for more than 20 years. There are many services that fall under the umbrella of the agency. In-Home Services provides trained personnel to perform simple homemaker and personal tasks allowing individuals to remain independent. Meals on Wheels attracts the largest number of volunteers. Approximately 125 meals are delivered to homebound Fayette County seniors each weekday. The Friendly Visitor program matches homebound seniors with trained volunteers who usually visit once a week. The Friendship Center is held on-site. Daily activities include crafts, games, exercises, educational programs, shopping, hot lunches, snacks and a place for seniors to congregate. The Wellness Program is an educational program staffed by volunteer registered nurses from the community. The J.O.Y. Club, Just Older Youth, is for active seniors. Members travel, go to the theater, dine out and enjoy other activities in and around Atlanta. Case Managers at FSS conduct assessments and assist families in planning care for seniors. FSS also provides information and referrals, utilizing many resources to connect seniors and their families with available services in the community.
