Littlefield not running again By MONROE
ROARK
Fayette school board chairman Mickey Littlefield will not be seeking a second term, he said recently. "I will not be seeking re-election due to the increased demands from my business," he said. Littlefield operates a State Farm Insurance office in Fayetteville and has for 20 years. "It has really been a pleasure serving the citizen of Fayette County and the job has been rewarding," he continued. "As long as my successor supports our superintendent, whom I consider the best in Georgia, our school system will continue to be the best. I am announcing my intentions now to give any potential candidates time to enter the race this summer." Littlefield represents Post 5, which is mostly north and northwest of Fayetteville. He said it is the "most meandering" district and the largest geographically, because of its relatively sparse population. All school board members are elected at-large by the entire county. Vice chairman Greg Powers' term also expires at the end of this year. Littlefield was elected in 1998 and has is in his second year as chairman.
