Atlanta Home Show back for spring

The Atlanta Home Show is back this month, scheduled for April 18-21 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

With 450 exhibitors under one roof, it is billed as the largest home show in the Southeast, showcasing literally thousands of products and ideas for the home.

Among this year's special events and guests:

The Zero Energy House built by Certified Living and sponsored by the Captain Planet Foundation. This exhibit teaches visitors to save on energy bills while making their homes environmentally healthy.

Bob Vila, appearing Friday, April 19, from 1-3 p.m. in the Bayer Home Health exhibit.

The High-Tech Kitchen, with the latest available appliances and digital equipment. An improv group from Laughing Matters will demonstrate the technology and entertain the crowd.

The Duct Tape Guys, nationally renowned from their appearances on the Today Show, ready to demonstrate how to use duct tape as a power tool.

The Atlanta Humane Society's Best Pet Trick performance, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at 4 p.m. on the main stage. Contestants from all parts of the metro Atlanta area are expected to participate.

A raffle supporting Habitat for Humanity, with a grand prize of Elite Plantation Shutters for the entire home.

Tasty creations from Atlanta's top restaurant chefs prepared on the Viking Chef's Expo stage.

The Atlanta Home Show opens Thursday, April 18, at noon and will be open until 8 p.m. that day. Friday hours are noon-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-6 p.m.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors age 62 and over, and $2 for children 7-12. Adult admission is $5 apiece in groups of 20 or more. Ages 6 and under are admitted free.

Parking at the show is free, but MARTA is also available. Motorist can also use an express drop-off point for easiest access. Take International Blvd. and follow the signs.
