A Peachtree City man has been cited after reports that his dog killed another dog in the Smokerise subdivision March 17.

Michael Gorman was cited by Fayette County Animal Control for maintaining a vicious animal and allowing the dog to run at large. He will answer the charges in Peachtree City Municipal Court.

According to police reports, Jim Tucillo, who lives on the same street as Gorman, complained that Gorman's Akita attacked and killed his dog.

Although no witnesses saw the attack, the dog was reported in the area after the Tucillos' dog was found dead in their yard.

Gorman told police that he had not let his dogs out of the yard during the time of the attack. According to the police report, Gorman owns two Akitas.

Peachtree City has a ordinance requiring owners to maintain voice control over their pets; in unincorporated Fayette County, Tyrone and Fayetteville, owners must have pets on a leash.

Police investigating the incident noticed claw marks at the top of the fence on Gorman's property indicating that the dogs may have escaped over the fence at one time.
