Edwards seeking reelection

Fulton County Commissioner Bill Edwards believes his job has only started in serving the people of South Fulton County.

That's one of the reasons Edwards has thrown his hat in the ring seeking reelection to his commission post.

"I want to continue to fulfill my commitment to the people," he said.

Edwards said it's been a phenomenal year for the area and pointed to the development taking place in South Fulton.

"Right now, there's more than $1.5 billion taking place in economic development. There's currently 700 permits that have been approved," he said.

But, Edwards said the growth has been "controlled" and he wants to make sure it stays that way.

Edwards is happy the development has also incorporated greenspace, which he says is a big part of why developers are choosing South Fulton.

The commissioner also has set up several committees to get more people involved in the government process.

"I've tried to make our government more accessible to the people and I want to continue that process," he said.

Since he was elected, Edwards has made a habit of attending many community meetings. He believes talking to the community's leaders is a way of making the government more responsive to the people.

The general election is set for Nov.5.
