Former mayor calls it quits as librarian

The revolving door in Senoia's city government continued last week.

Mayor Dianne Cleveland announced new librarian and former mayor Kathy Goodell would be leaving the library April 1 and head back to her old job at the post office in Senoia.

"We just can't offer the financial and benefits package they can," Cleveland said.

Senoia's post office has been rocked in recent weeks by the suspension of an employee for allegedly tampering with mail over the last few months.

Goodell had left the post office in February to take the librarian post, but decided the time was right to go back there, Cleveland said.

"I guess the turmoil here just never ends," she said.

During last week's City Council meeting, the council met in executive session and voted to hire Aimee Scarbrough as Goodell's replacement.

"I think Aimee will do a really good job. She's training with Kathy and should be an asset to the city," Cleveland said.

Scarbrough officially starts her position April 1.
