Pathway narrowing scope of industrial recruitment By JOHN
MUNFORD The industrial marketing effort of Pathway Communities is getting smaller ... in terms of focus anyway. Pat Murphy, who's now in charge of Pathway's industrial marketing efforts, said the company will focus on selling to smaller groups instead of having "developer days" for large numbers of prospects. By focusing on smaller numbers of prospects, it's easier to provide individualized attention, Murphy told the Peachtree City Development Authority at its regular meeting Monday night. "Peachtree City sells itself," Murphy said. "Our biggest challenge is getting people down here to see it." Murphy explained that business executives who live and work in north Atlanta have the perception that Peachtree City is much further south from Atlanta that it actually is. "It's just far enough away," Murphy said. In the industrial park, only 500 acres of undeveloped property remain for sale, Murphy said. The largest tract, located behind Cooper Lighting, is 138 acres and the second largest, adjacent to the South 74 Recreation Complex, is 64 acres. The remaining parcels range from 1.5 to 40 acres in size, Murphy said. On the commercial side, between 100 and 125 sites are left for sale, Murphy added. Pathway is currently making a "concerted effort" to lure the Atlanta brokerage community to the city for a look at its properties, Murphy said. "We've got very competitively priced property," Murphy said. "They can't believe it's as low (priced) with all the infrastructure that's in place."
