A local man has been sentenced to 300 days in jail for several violations of county development regulations, including two counts of ignoring stop work orders issued by county staff.

A jury in Fayette County State Court found Anthony J. Carter guilty of violating the stop work orders, grading without a land disturbance permit, covering a sewer system without an inspection and installing a used water line at property he is developing on the Highway 85 connector near Massengale Road.

State Court Judge Fletcher Sams handed down the verdict on Carter, who claimed in court documents that his property is exempt from the land disturbance permit and an on-site sewer management system was not installed.

Carter was issued citations for the violations between Dec. 13 and Feb. 22.
