Woman gets seven years for shoplifting; jury rules not guilty on statutory rape case A stolen pair of underwear, along with several previous shoplifting convictions, netted a seven-year prison sentence for a woman in Fayette County Superior Court last week. Meanwhile, a jury found another man not guilty of statutory rape, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes. Karen Denise White of College Park was found guilty of shoplifting but not guilty of forgery in the second degree for allegedly having a fake identification card. Assistant District Attorney Damon Sanderson said the strong sentence was due to White's previous shoplifting convictions. In a separate case, Gregory Ralph Wallis, 27, of Fayetteville, was found not guilty of statutory rape, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes. Wallis claimed that he did not know the child was underage when the incident occurred, said Assistant District Attorney Tom Isom. Wallis had signed a written confession to part of the crime, Isom noted. John Munford
