Hospital opens new wing

Fayette Community Hospital recently opened its completed third-floor facilities.

The third floor will allow the hospital to comfortably operate at its 100-bed capacity and enhance its services, and will feature several new patient care areas along with an enhanced patient information center.

The third floor's south wing houses 12 additional private and semi-private medical-surgical patient rooms, as well as expanded support areas for physician and nurse use. The third floor also boasts an expanded physical therapy area that will provide hands-on rehabilitation for orthopedic surgery patients as well as for stroke patients during their hospital stays.

A short stay and observation wing, consisting of patient rooms and patient-care bays for shorter-term hospitalizations, also has been added. This area will serve patients for outpatient procedures such as infusions, blood transfusions, chemotherapy treatments and injections.

Another key component of the third floor expansion is a new medical records area.

"As the population of Fayette County has grown, so have the needs and number of our patients," explained hospital CEO, Darrell Cutts. "We are very enthusiastic about the additional capabilities and greater capacity our third floor expansion will allow us to provide."
