One of the great myths of American society is that citizens are allowed to own property. It's true that Americans may negotiate contracts for the acquisition of land, may take out loans and mortgages, and may even hold a deed.

Last month, I had the opportunity to attend "A Pageant With a Purpose" the Miss Georgia Teen of Excellence 2002 pageant. While I confess that I was already an advocate of the program, I came away even more impressed with its organizers and participants.
