Park in memory of PTC fire chief will stay in city's plans

It appears that the Peachtree City Council will not abandon its plans to create a park in honor of former Fire Chief Gerald Reed at the location of the former Leach Fire Station at Ga. Highway 74 and Paschall Road.

City staff had suggested it might be appropriate to name the future west side fire station after Chief Reed instead, but several council members said they wanted the park to remain a priority.

Councilwoman Annie McMenamin said she didn't want to abandon the council's commitment to the chief's family. Reed died in December 2000.

Mayor Steve Brown noted that a representative of Cawood and Associates, a nearby business, has approached the city about purchasing the property to have more parking for its employees.
