If you live in Fayette County, your best creative work could be waving from atop Fayetteville's City Hall in a matter of months.

The city is making plans to create a city flag, and the public has been invited to submit ideas for its design. The person whose design is chosen will be awarded $200.

The deadline for submissions is May 15.

"The idea of a city flag was brought to my attention by Councilman Larry Dell," said Main Street Manager Nancy Price. "He thought Fayetteville should have a flag of its own to fly proudly beside the American flag."

Here are the guidelines for the city flag contest:

All entrants should be residents of Fayetteville or unincorporated Fayette County.

All entries should include the entrant's name, phone number, address, occupation and age.

The design should incorporate the city slogan, "A History with a Future."

A team will be chosen by the mayor and City Council to review the submissions. City officials reserve the right not to select any of the entrants if none are considered suitable for use.

For more information, contact Price at 770-461-6029 or visit the city's Web site at www.fayetteville-ga-us.org.
