New principals announced

The Fulton County School System recently announced new principals for three elementary schools.

The changes are effective beginning with the 2002-2003 school year.

Tawana Miller, current principal at Heards Ferry Elementary School, has been named principal at the elementary school under construction on Dodson Road in Union City. Miller has been Heards Ferry's principal since 1999 and previously was an assistant principal at Oak Knoll Elementary School.

Parklane Elementary School Principal Susan Dorenkamp will take Miller's place as principal at Heards Ferry next year. She has been principal at Parklane since 1998 and previously was an assistant principal at Seaborn Lee Elementary and an elementary principal in Wayne-Westland Schools in Westland, Mich.

Lee Adams, assistant principal at Parklane Elementary, will assume the role of Parklane's principal. Adams will guide the school as it transitions to year-round schooling in 2002-2003.

Parklane becomes Fulton's second year-round school ­ College Park Elementary School was the state's first in 1991 ­ and begins its new school year July 15.
