Rotary Club honors public servants The South Fulton Rotary Club sponsored its annual police and firefighters' award luncheon last week. Awards are presented each year to one police officer and one firefighter each from South Fulton County, Fairburn, Union City and Palmetto chosen by their peers from each department. The awards this year were presented to county police Officer Richard Grant and firefighter David Campbell. Fairburn's awards went to Jeremy T. Rogers, police, and Jacob Trujillo, fire. Union City chose police Officer R. A. Luongo and firefighter Dennis Moore. Palmetto's awards went to Danny Rowan of the Police Department and Richard Dollar, firefighter. Awards were presented by Jack Cochran, the only remaining active founding member of South Fulton Rotary Club. Cochran has headed this annual award for all 28 years of the club's existence. Attending the lunch were most of the police and fire chiefs representing their respective localities including Fulton County Deputy Chief Terry Mulkey, who commented that he received the police award 21 years ago when he was a corporal. Tom Andrews, Fulton's county manager, was the club's speaker after the awards were presented. Andrews talked about the effects on everyone since Sept. 11 and the need for support of our police and fire departments in these times. He thanked the South Fulton Rotary Club for their past and continuing support of the police and fire departments.
