County gets green space grant

Coweta County was one of 10 counties that received grants last week by the Georgia Greenspace Commission.

The funds will help the local governments acquire and permanently protect greenspace.

The grants for fiscal year 2002 were approved for the following governments:

·Bartow County ($256,602).

·Bulloch County ($65,578) and the city of Statesboro ($49,470).

·Camden County ($54,940) and the cities of Kingsland ($30,887), St. Marys ($36,836) and Woodbine ($3,925).

·ChathamCounty ($1,025,538).

· Cherokee County ($768,698).

· Coweta County ($277,121) and the cities of Grantville ($4,786), Newnan ($55,224), Senoia ($5,957) and Sharpsburg ($1,205).

· DeKalb County ($2,832,904) and the cities of Atlanta ($179,072) and Decatur ($90,979).

· Effingham County ($126,894).

· Lowndes County ($263,871).

· Newton County ($253,478).
