History teacher honored by DAR
The Augustin Clayton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented its Outstanding American History Teacher Award for 2002 to Philip Jay Taylor of Fayette County High School recently. Taylor has taught at FCHS since 1999 and teaches advanced placement U.S. history, advanced placement government and prep U.S. history. Along with the award, the DAR celebrated Georgia Day with recitation of a poem written by Barbara Davenport entitled "Remembering Georgia Day," which is Feb. 12.
